My 68 charger has been in storage for the last 35 years in a fully enclose unheated detached garage. The wire harness was removed when the car was stripped and put in a box. It was complete as I remember it. I'm checking off various system and it's up.

Can I use It if so what should I do to it?
Should I replace it with new? Buy it from whom?
Anything else you feel I should know.

All boils down to, what kind of shape the harness is in?
What to look for is pretty simple. Though, each separate wire should be looked at, for any signs of getting hot, flexibility, corrosion, and so on. All in all, go by that.

If there are a few bad, or in doubt, wires, they can be replaced, to 'save' a harness. But, don't do a hack job...replace that entire wire!

I'm going through a problem with my runner.I had the car totally restored but the harness ...Apart for ten years. Now I had some wires fry..So I'm not going to try and find the problem wire after wire.I figure the wires are 50 years old.I price a under dash harness out from year one 472.. Engine harness 127.I think I will go that way in the spring. The lights worked fine...I hope that helps......

I have thought of buying just a dash harness since its the most involved. To replace the others wouldn't be as bad. Or so I think?

I replaced all the wiring in my 73 when it was restored, mainly because the dash harness was hacked up, but the engine bay wiring was stiff as a board, had oxidation, and brittle casing on the wires. So for piece of mind I replaced the wires on the entire car.

There are factory harnesses made by M&H electric and available only through Year One if you want to go that route, and they are expensive, but are top quality product! I don't know about the other brands available for do it your self.

I am in the process of replacing all of my wiring and used Year One, which is M&H wiring. I got all of mine, 6 or 7 harnesses, when they ran a 30% off so it saved a lot. They have 30% off for the next 2 days going on right now. You can research reviews on M&H and everyone seems to like them.

Condition, condition, etc. If it doesn't look good, feel good(stiffness) replace it, IMHO.

Definitely M+H!! Save the old harness for wall art. Plug and play, not plug and pray!

Put a new one in and sell your old one to somebody chasing a trophy.
