So I have this neighbor across the street from me who has a restored 70 GTO, car looks great I have always had a soft spot for goats especially the 70. Well ever since I brought home the 69 RR he has been taking trash, At first I let it go since we were in the middle of an engine swap.

Then during the tuning and dialing in period of the new stroker I let his smart *** anti mopar remarks go, the RR has a crappy paint job but I have been slowly getting things cleaned up and replaced, hell some of you have even sent me parts :) it's coming along well and if I had to sell it now it would be worth 12-15k I think. Anyway yesterday he starts in again except this time I let him have it both barrel's lol letting him know that his restored yet not show quality GTO is worth what my unfinished RR is worth right now lol. He paid $16k and nothing is correct on it.

He didn't like that, I could tell. and he proceeded to try to smack more but the MOPAR in me came out and when I was done letting him know that my stroker car would blow his 455 stock motor's doors off and had a witness, My other neighbor(70 cuda- who drove the RR helped tune it and knows first hand the power it has) he was stumped and had to change the subject all the while trying to snipe in some last minute remarks all met with (from me)" I don't need traction when I can do 50 mph roll on's and hit 100 in 3 seconds! wanna run 'em?"

Best part was when I informed him that I am doing the work myself including the engine build and know the in's and out's of my car vs him just being a buyer and a poser! :)

Just another example of a poser smack talker who wouldn't know a 3/4" drive from a 3/8" lol. what's wrong with these chevy guys?:angry9:

Made me feel good.

Sounds like you did a good job of handling him. I'm not much into the trash talking at my age anymore. I try to respect all car enthusiasts and not display any short man behavior like your neighbor seems to do - regardless of make. Don't get me wrong, though - I'm as hard core Mopar as it gets! But I can at least appreciate other brands - even if not my taste. I try to be civil with others and they will usually will do the same. It looks like you did that as much as you could, but enough was enough. I mean, come on - WE all know the truth - that Mopar rules! I guess sometimes you just have to educate the barbarians out there.:)

I had a former friend talk smack about my Bee years ago bout like you have.By the way he drove a tubbed & narrowed 67 Chevelle. One day he started runnin his mouth & he finally struck a nerve. We pulled out on a old back road & lined them up.Even surprisingly to me the old Bee took him by over a length. We got back home & all my friends were giving him hell. I didnt have to say one word. Then I walked outside, walked to his car, reached into my pocket. He came out yellin,"what are you doing to my car?" Then as I rubbed Copenhagen snuff accross his quarter panel told him,"Ive always heard this stuff is good for Bee stings."

Sounds like the neighbor has a case of diariea of the mouth, talking smack & then don't back it up... My 1st love is & always will be MOPARS... I too love the 64-70 GTO I grew up around them, especially "The Jugde" 455 Ram Air IV, my step father Bob raced Pontiac's mostly 64-72 GTO's for many years, set up & tuned properly, can easily run mid to high 12's low 13's with drag radials or slicks in stock form... We were a multible brand house Ford, Chevy, Plymouth, Dodge, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Willy's, Jeep, Porche, VW, MG, Triumph, Jaguar & many other brands even some Japanese & other European imports too over the years... I was raised to love & respect every brand for what they bring to the table... It sounds like you handled the situation pretty damn well to me, you can only "turn the other cheek" just so many times, before you need to strike back with full force... The GM, Ford & even the Import guys seem to back off when you want them to line up, unless they know for sure they have you covered/beat of course... The Roadrunner sounds like it's coming along great !!! any more recent photos ???

I can respect all makes now, and I like the 70 Goats, too, but with a gum flapper like that, you did the right thing by telling him to line 'em up! I was in a similar situation about 20 years ago, and the boy was talking large....after he lost, he was as quiet as a church mouse!

Here's some more bullets should the troll roll back over. Ask him why so many Poncho's have BBC's under the hood at car show, and that you'd never see that in a Mopar. Also ask him when was the last Poncho made that actually had a Poncho engine under the hood? They were all Chebby-powered once the 80's hit. Lastly, that poor attempt at bringing the once cool GOAT back a few years ago was a total flop, failure, dud.

Ha!!! My friend's got a '69 Nova with a 400 Pontiac motor under the hood and a 9" Ford out back, a real mutt mobile but VERY nice car. If your neighbor was a true car guy he wouldn't have said $h!t unless he was just trying to twist your nipples a bit, but it sounds as though he was serious. It's either insecurity, ignorance, or a combination of the two. Who cares who's car or what brand is better?

I've known some Brand X guys over the years that are as cluless as it gets when it comes to this stuff. Mopars are very mysterious and kind of scary for them. I actually heard one guy say he knows how to set ignition timing on a Chevy but he doesn't know anything about Mopars.

Dip$h!ts, all of them. Don't let him drag you down to his level, just tell him to put up or shut up. Let the Chrondek be the final judge!!!

I have a few friends but they don't go as far as your neighbor does with it, One of the coolest things is the fact YOU are doing this car, him buying the one he has, that had to get him... Yep you did the right thing! and thanks for the video, my wife, girl friend then watched it with me, she has seen that view before and said thanks for the memory! Hopefully someday she will see that view again, in our own..

After thinking about I hope I am not isolating anyone who buys cars already restored, I know we have had this discussion, trust me I f I could afford to do it that way my paddock would be over flowing with MOPARS :) It's on my bucket list to have a shop like Jay Leno's but full of all years of MOPARS!

So to all you resto buyers and drivers out there hats off for being able to do it and for doing it with a MOPAR! :)

That's funny,good for bee-sting:laughing11::laughing11:

You did what you had to. My neighbor has a 72 SS Chevelle clone he bought built. He respects Mopars he allways declines when I ask him to bring it out to play. He is not a car guy who works on his but likes to talk to me when I am working on mine.

Back in the day his mouth would be silenced buy telling him to put up or shut up. Many a chevy and ford guy learned the hard way and not only had his pride hurt but ended up lighter in his pocket too. Now I just ignore what is said and realize that us older guys can respect the amount of time, effort and money that goes into doing a car as most of the members of this board do. Sounds like his attitude would be better suited for a rice burner.:jerk:

Ask him to take a ride in your rr and maybe he will have a little more respect for it . if you realy want to get him going ask him if he wants you to help him buid a motor for the gto that can keep up with the rr,

I had some good fun shutting up jackasses like that with my 68 RR. Sounds like you laid out some facts in a polite but firm way. Good for you.

bigmanjbmopar, Saw your video and pics of your car, love the slots by the way. I like to talk smack with my buddies (them being chevy lovers) but we all know its in good fun. We all appreciate each other's cars and opinions even tho we may not all share the same angle. But to be fair he does have some of the nicest chevelles I've seen.
Funny you say this about a pontiac GTO. Growing up we (dad and mom) had a '69 340 formula S barracuda. My uncle bought a GTO judge. Well same as your neighbor, bragged, bragged, bragged and talked the little cud down until my Dad could take no more. So he said lets go run them for fun then. Well my uncle couldn't jump at the chance to show up this 340 with his 455 fast enough. My mom flagged them off and that little barracuda ate him up and spit him out! well no more bragging after that.... lol.
Sometimes you just have to show them.
Good luck with your project and keep moving foreword.

Besides the 390 fairlane the GTO was one of the slowest muslecars built. The GTO had crappy brakes from day one. The GTO had 9 inch drums brakes which is the same as mopar used on slant six cars. Mopar used 10 & 11 inch drum brakes on v8 cars. Disc brakes was available as an option. I know because I have a 72 GTO 455 ho car that I have owned for thirty yrs. Yeah a 455 GTO would take a 383 car but not a 440 rt charger.

Awesome......

Love the sound of a big block....

It dosen't look like you need to worry about running off the road and hitting a tree around there....

I let another buddy drive it last Saturday, here is his reaction on video
