I am at the California Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso. First run yesterday was a personal best in all splits...1.448 60', 4.260 330', 6.650 660', 8.735 1000' and 10.515 1320'. MPH was NOT personal best but was 102.44 1/8 mile and 125.95 1/4 mile.

Congrats!! I remember my first time getting into the 10's. I had driven a couple of 12 second cars and thought that was pretty cool but for the most part, my cars were mostly in the 14's and 15's so jumping out of a 15 second pickup and running a high 10 was a pretty good jump. My first pass in the new car broke the tires loose going into 3rd and that got my attention pretty good. Kinda scared me actually lol Had traction issues on a crappy track when I got into a 9 second car but instead scaring me getting crossed up going into 2nd, it pissed me off!

Mike whats new on the car? Or was it just good air?

Good air & good track/prep conditions ?

Congrats on the new best...

Was that with the newer more recent build 505ci ?
{referenced In one of your other recent threads}
or is that still with the old engine combo ?

Didn't it run 10.57 @ 126+? before ?

over a 1/100th in 60 ft better, that's a good start...

Mike, 10.51 is really great. The 60' looks really great too. A little more fine tuning & things can get even better. Did you get the 2" headers on yet?

That's awesome! Its fun watching you make that car quicker! Congrats!

The air was good...1500' Adj altitude plus I put in a "3 step" rather than my old "2 step". It added a 3rd rev limiter chip so I could put a 5000 chip in for my water box burnout (I do it in 2ND gear only) so when I pressed the line lock button it activated the 3rd Step 5000 chip to "hold" my rpm's to exactly 5000 so I could get a "consistant" water box to heat up the tires perfectly without trying to modulate the accelerator pedal to keep it at on or about 5000. Works good and makes heating up my tires consistant.

Nice going Mike ! Congrats on the new best. Ron

Mike have you tried 3rd gear burnouts? That's what I do, the big motor has no trouble getting them started & up about 4000 for a couple seconds & roll out. Just curious.

Mike 3rd gear is the way to go. I start in 2nd and shift quickly to 3rd.

Hell, I'd on't bother with 2nd, put it in 3rd & hit the throttle. A 500+ " motor lites the tires right away. A couple seconds at speed gets the tires hot. Don't hammer the sprag .
