Last Weekend at the NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso I went to the final 4 cars out of 32 competitors in the AFX WEST Nostalgia Racing Group.
I was dialed at 10.25 and got to the finish line first but broke out with a 10.248. Still was in the money.
Personal Best during time trials:
10.191 Best ET
131.28 Best MPH (on a different run than the 10.191)

Congratulations Mike!
Wow!
Dialed right in huh?
Great run!

I missed it AGAIN!
Darn!
(Thought it was this week!)

What was your previous best in the heat?

I HAVE NEVER RUN NITROUS. 10.36 at 3600 adjusted altitude was my previous best. Air was at 1700 feet on the 10.191...but it was also with the aid of my new transbrake transmission and my brand new Hoosier stiff sidewall Slick's that had 92 in roll out vs 88 inch roll out on my old tires. Both with 4.30 gear. I think one third of the reason for the better et was the air, one third of it was the better 60 foot time with the Trans brake and one third of it was the new Hoosier tires launching better than my old Mickey Thompson bias-ply ET Street slicks. Both the Mickey Thompson and Hoosiers were 11.25 in wide. My trans brake was literally crushing the Mickey Thompsons. I ran 14 lb of air in the Hoosiers and left at 3600 RPM off the button. Next race I'm going to run 15 pounds and launch at 4000 RPMs off the button. I think it will help. I had a best 60 foot time of 1.408 last weekend with the transbrake and Hoosier tires. Most of my 60 foots where in the 1.42 to 1.43 range. My 60 foots with the old Mickey Thompsons and foot brake were around 1.48 to 1.49

Im with you 100% on running a N/A car Mike.
I wouldn't do it any other way.
I like to do my improvements 1 at a time so I know exactly what is working and what isn't. I know it takes more time that way but at least you know exactly what didection you're moving in.
All you need to do now is lose 200 lbs. And you'll be in the 9's.
Keep at it!!!

Nice job. The car has made steady improvement. And going 4 rds to boot.
Doug

Thanks. I hope to make further improvements on my next outing in two weeks. More rear tire air pressure and leaving at a higher RPM in an effort to get my 60 foot into the 1.30 range. Only trial and error will tell

Great progress & work! You are very diligent in your work and it shows on the timeslip. Are you done for the year?
