WELL,,,,THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE CONTINUING SAGA OF THE PIPES....i just got the Road Runner back with the new exhaust. i must say it is a work of art! 2-1/2 from the manifolds to the flow master 40's... and 2-1/4 the rest of the way. perfectly bent and everything is centered. i had an "H" pipe put in to level out the sound. it sounds exactly how i envisioned (....envisioned???)...ANYWAY. you know what i mean.

idles rumbly....highway is nice.... only thing i can say is a bit annoying is there is a drone at 1900 to 2000 rpm...then it goes away, other than that i couldnt be happier and i didnt have to spend a grand or better on an "accurate exhaust"...and lay on my back for 2 hours! They did the complete job for $600.00 and i never seen welds look like blown glass . NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

i did notice its running about 20 degrees cooler also....and has a little more "giddy-up" should the flow of the exhaust affect the running temperature like that?

Awesome! glad you got what you expected one day I can go get my peanut butter welds redone :)

No headers right stock manifolds? Then you have increased the flow rate of your heads kind of like opening up the hose so it can flow easier and a side effect is lower temps although I wouldn't expect a huge drop but hey 20° is nice. Now you need to make us a video of the new sound and let us hear it! just saying.

thanx BIGMAN.. no headers,,,just stock manifolds. and if i can figure how to get my camera to make a movie...ill have to do that for ya!

Progress that's great, I hope it sound awesome

Congrats! Looking forward to your video, if you do one.. Those Flow-masters do sound great especially with the Mopar.. Enjoy!

Hey tpodwdog, too bad you didn't see this chart before you installed the Flowmasters.

The Flowmasters are'nt the greatest for flow as compared to the Dynomax Ultra-flow's

That is some good information. How is it possible to get 101% airflow?

Where did you get this? And i'm sure I could get better 1/4 mile times with a 512 or a hemi vs the 493 I built. Dang dude. Party killer....:lurk:

WOWWWW.... thats one hell of a chart ya got there Mr. 71 Beeper . your right... i should have seen this chart before i did over a month of research on just about every exhaust system out there. im sure your chart reading and ultimate superior wisdom completely overshadows mine. how stupid of me not to have even LOOKED for this chart....sure would have helped me so much in my eternal search for the best flowing exhaust system for MY COMPLETELY STOCK 1970 383 ROAD RUNNER!.

perhaps next time i will google the internet and do an eternal search for the best chart full of bullshit that i can find....and if i cant find one,,,,,im sure that you will supply me with one! thanx for your hind sight....and thank you in advance for the next time that i need an unwarranted solicitation of useless information !

Can I please get a PowerPoint presentation on exhaust flow? Also, please include sound clips of each muffler with 2 1/4, 2 1/2, and 3" pipes. Thank you mr willy, thank you.

Well......I would have expected a response like that from someone on Moparts - but here?? :sad8:
I was just trying to provide information that you didn't know. You say you did a months worth of research before going with the Flowmasters, too bad you didn't see the chart.
For what it's worth, the results in the chart were done by the University of Michigan. The testing was done on a 1970 440 Road Runner and it too is stock, just like yours. Here's a pic of the subject car.

You say this is useless information - probably is to you, but did you think others on this forum may benefit from it?

And for the record, I too have Flowmaster 40 series. I had them on my 76 Road Runner, yes I love the sound, but I do think flow is important. Too bad you don't see it that way.

Relax, you came on and rained on dog's victory dance man and we took offense and basted you for it :) no worries next time just post it as new info instead of telling a guy who just spent 6 hundred he should of done some thing different. Bad Canuck bad

just so you guys know....i researched all the mufflers and glass paxx out there. this is NOT some kind of race car where it needs all this hypo stuff on it....i did all that back in 1984 with my 1st 70 Road Runner. i wanted a new exhaust for 2 reasons... ( why am i even explaining this? ) reason #1...it looked like a 3rd grader welded the old exhaust....EVERYTHING WAS WELDED TOGETHER. it looked like ****. Reason #2...the old exhaust was too quiet and i prefer a little rumble and some noise. i wasnt after the best flowing....i was after the best SOUNDING,,,and all that were following my endeavor knows this.

for someone that i really dont know to come to me and gimmee that " you shoulda done this.....OR you shoulda done that'....crap irritates me to no end. i did what i did for the same reason i have the shackles and the huge Plymouth decals on the quarters...BECAUSE ITS MY CAR AND I WANT THEM THERE.... and no other reason

if i wanted a freekin race car i would build one....and have...many times....not the case with this car. I want to get in it,,,turn the key...and go ! no messin with headers....or timing curves....or cams...or electric fans, fuel pumps.... ....i did that years ago. You young guys will know what i mean when you hit 50....those 50 and over (most ) ..understand it now!

I read many posts about guys that hypo their cars up and have problem after problem...and i sit here and wonder why these guys are doing this.. because they love doing it thats why, and never in a million years would i chime in and tell them my opinions on it ( i save that for the political stuff ). if thats what they want to do,,,then who am I to tell them differently. If someone is asking for opinions, then thats a different story.

so i will bite the bullet here and apologise to you for my shitty comeback... ( perhaps i took it the wrong way....looks like a few others did too ) but,,in the future,,,,dont be tellin a man what he should do , or not do UNLESS HE ASKS YOU !

Your car really sounded like sh@t on Sunday, you should've gone dynomax.
