Hello folks i just got my 18 gauge trunk extensions made by Joe Phillips (one of are B body members).

I want to share there original look.

There isn't much that is being made for the 67s and Joe has really stepped up and made a difference with the quality and craftsmanship. Jerry Hall@

Thanks Joe!:thankyou:

@Jerry Hall guess he wanted you to see this
@Bold & Old is a friend and he also sent me a PM with the pictures. @Joe Phillips does good work, I have a friend much closer to me that has one of his quarters and it was exceptional. Even the AMD 66-67 Belvedere quarters need tweaking so don't anticipate perfection but they are as good as I have seen.

i just ordered a set of trunk extensions from Joe this morning.
Rich, is there a difference in the Coronet and Belvedere trunk extensions. The 2 cars have a one inch difference in wheelbase? Make sure he does the holes for the drain plugs.

The Belvedere and Coronet have different trunk extensions, absolutely.

Just got off the phone with Joe and I have a better understanding of his work.

Yes the Coronet trunk extensions are different size on the top ledge. (about 1 inch more on the Coronet).

The (back drops) have a different reinforcement patterns but are the same size on GTXs and Coronets......... according to Joe

They also can be made with or without drain holes and are all 18 gauge.

He told me most do not have the holes unless they are Concurs or trailer queens and not having to deal with wetness and road salt.

(just another way to get moisture in is my thought.

Hope this helps... Mike

i also spoke with joe about the differences and he assured me that he knows the differences between Coronet and Belvedere, i would like the drain holes though.

Drain holes required, IMO, absolutely!
That is your choice and mine did not have them... and can be easy to drill them in.

Joe said that 90% of his 67 extension panels are sold with no holes.

Joe has made a lot of different sheet metal panels over the years for other cars then Mopar.

The shipping costs probably will go up soon and will have to pass it along to the consumer if so.

His panels aren't perfect............ but very close.

They are all hand made one at a time.

im going to ask Joe to include the drain holes sized for that odd looking drain plug, the factory deemed it necessary for a reason, im not smarter than a Chrysler engineer so im sticking to original specs..lol

It's a special hole, I would prefer that it's included with the part also. Pictures borrowed from an ad here.

It just looks wrong without them. I've owned about four dozen '66-'67 B-body cars since 1980, and I can't remember a car that did not have the drain provision.

The holes in Floorpans and rear quarters were for draining the liquid when the bodies went through chemical baths. Much like frost plugs in blocks were for removing sand cast molds.

True, but the ones in the trunk extensions were also for letting water or any kind of liquid out, with the special designed plug. If they were the traditional body plug there would be no drain design in the plug. See pictures I posted above.
