I'm looking to install a modern stereo/CD player in my 74 Charger. What type, or brand is the easiest to marry the new wiring to my existing wiring? Original radio is still in place, Im fine with removing or mounting new one below the dash. Photos or diagrams would be much appreciated. Thanks for any feedback!

Do you want Bluetooth and stuff?

any stereo system diff than the stock will need to be matched. There is no way to make a plug and play job, not even with the new repro units.

Just want basic AM/FM and CD player. Hoping the wiring will be not too complicated. Thanks.

If you want a CD unit, then a in-dash won't work, unless you cut the dash. I don't think you want that. Call Crutchfield. They specialize in plug adapters so you don't have to hack up your exisitng harness.

You are looking to keep the original radio in place and add auxiliary CD? You may know there are many systems available as posted and I settled on a Hermosa retro to retain "some" original look and no cutting of the dash. My car is older (63) where I wanted to stay with shaft mount so that limited many options; but made installing easier. I also wanted to have my tunes on a flash drive rather than CD's and the model I went with had this; but came with a bunch of other features like blue tooth I wasn't looking for. Anyway I did hours of sifting through available systems and you'll find one; just my quick tip don't settle on something until you've done a good search as it's likely you'll find one that closely matches what ya want.
