I am building an engine for my roadrunner it has a 400 that came in it.. But the prestige of a 440 has been in my head.. My question do I build the 400 or 451 stroker or 440.. It's going to be a street car but still want it to be strong. So if you could help with any ideas or builds that would be great thanks

I'd say go with the 400 if you already got it. You can build a pretty strong 400 with a stock stroke. they are like a 440 that act like a 383 (rev quicker, lighter) But there is nothing wrong with a 440 ether lol.

400's have the edge on weight right over the front end and are pretty damn strong .. just put some 440 emblems on it and go

Budnicks is your man on stroking a LB .. and have you seen his LB 6 BBL set up?

Nope sure haven't

the 400 is the racers preferred block, i would go with that

Building a 451 stroker will require you use a 440 crank but have the mains cut down as well as the counterweights. Also custom pistons will be required. It's a very successful combo but the cost is higher than doing a 400 or a 440. A 440 is the easy way out and you can get some really good performance for not a lot of money. The 400 would do well too and since you have it you can just build it.

I was reading on the muscle motors website that one of the engine builders said that his favorite engine to build is the 400! So im going to keep mine and when its time for a rebuild she is getting stroked!!!!

I say just stick with the 400 and go the 451 route. Good combination to make some reliable power.

What if you already had both motors what would the recommends be?
