$38K Canuck bucks = ~ $30K US

Mine embeds the facebook post and shows the F in the "picture". Yours should at least be showing the actual link...

I know this car very well. A friend of mine had a 1965 Belvedere II 2-door hardtop that he had put a 426 Hemi into. This was about 30 years ago, and 1965 b-bodies were not commonly seen up here in Ontario. He started looking for a tow car for his hardtop, and I noticed an ad for this car in Hemmings and told him about it. It was a 361, automatic car in the same shade of blue as his other '65. The seller was able to deliver it from Oregon to Chicago, where Tom went to pick it up. This wagon was a very solid car with weak paint. Tom had the car professionally repainted and built a 440-based 493 for it with dual inline Edelbrocks on an Edelbrock intake.
The trailered hardtop being towed by its matching wagon tow car was a stunning sight. Both cars were shod with matching TorqueThrust wheels. Sadly the cars were sold separately and my friend passed away. This wagon has changed hands 3 or 4 times in the past few years, and the price has gone up and up. However, it remains a solid and well looked after car. From personal experience, I know it would be hard to build a wagon to equal it for the same $$$. The last I heard, the Hemi hardtop was for sale in Pennsylvania. Near Pittsburg I think, in a defunct shopping mall that is now a classic car showroom.

Did the two cars belong to Tom Watters? The last time I saw the pair together was at Moparfest - maybe 5 years ago.

A ‘64 recently sold on BAT for $24k. A place not known for bargains. It was as nice if not nicer, and I thought that was top $. What do I know? :D

I posted a ‘68 Coronet R/T for sale at Maple Motors. It was listed at $31k. Many here thought that was high.

What do I know?

Exactly !!

I the past months the only '64 wagon that sold on BAT went for $32,500. - and it was pretty much bone stock. The car being discussed here is a pretty good deal at 30k U.S. any day of the week.

As for no bargains on BAT, I'd argue that. Case in point - the hemi powered '65 Coronet that sold two weeks ago for 33k !!

I like the ‘68-‘70’s because they have the Muscle Car front ends. And because of that a lot of parts are reproduced. But yeah... just my opinion.

I reckon cars, like real estate, sometimes come down to location, location, location eh? :)
(BTW, Hagerty Valuation Tool says $25k tops in Concourse, original condition. #3 is $12k, #2 is $17k for what it's worth).

There ya go. Makes $30k for a lowly station wagon seem a little high.

Tom sold the car to another friend of ours, who had a lot of new front end stuff replaced. Disc brakes on front too. Mini tubs in back to fit big rims and tires.
