So,
Brought the wife a used 08 Nitro 3.7 auto 4wd for her.
Rides a tad rough but overall we both really like it.
18 mpg is the minimum we get, the 4wd is a must have far as I'm concerned for NE Iowa winter driving, the 3.7 has good spunk.
Looking at replacing our 05 rusty grand caravan, so kinda been watching the papers ect for another Nitro, looks like my wife's with 75000 for ten grand was a bargain last spring.
So, my question, why did Chrysler stop making the Nitro, seems to be a popular vehicle here in the midwest ?
Just wondering, neg 2 this morning won't be doing much just cruising my saved pages

I think it was because they made a Jeep that was almost identical to it and it outsold the Nitro by quite a margin. The only difference, other than trim, was the Nitro had a different suspension rating, more for highway driving as opposed to trails. Not sure, I could be misconstruing facts.

The Nitro was a cool looking vehicle. The small jeeps look like ****.

I used to like the commercials; the guy in the Nitro would turn the key to start it, and the car next to it exploded!

Not really that simple.
Both based on the same platform, the Nitro sits a little lower, thus handles better, made for roads and has better interior options, the Liberty is better suited, more made for, off road, sits higher and road handling thus was not as good as Nitro.
BOTH have been discontinued.
The reviews from Nitro owners and test drivers were mostly good.
Again, around the midwest they seem to have gone over pretty good, just curious as to why the went completely away.
Thanks

Except for 2007 and 2008, they didn't sell 25,000 units per year. With all the financial problems back then, Chrysler just decided to drop it.

A guy at work bought one new (2007 I think) and sold it a year later. He liked the vehicle but got poor gas mileage from the 4.0 V6.
