Just got back home from Military training. Father drove the car two days ago. Got in it today, and it sounded like the starter was acting up and was constantly clicking and not engaging with a fully charged battery. Bumped it over a few times like this and it finally engaged and fired up. Cranked it the second time right after and it turned over again, so I was under the belief that all was well. Got in the car tonight again, and the starter does the same issue. After attempting to bump it over a few more times, all power dies. I have no electrical power in the car, but I am getting power from the battery to my battery cut-off switch. I can not start the car by using the starter solenoid, it also has no power. No internal fuses are blown. I thought it may be the toggle switch I have in place for the gauges and electric fan, but with the lights not working it must be something else. Thank you for all your input, and before anyone says anything, the battery connections are all tight and I am getting a good voltage readout at my battery cutoff switch that routes to my starter.

How have you changed the wiring, IE is this trunk mounted battery?

Or did you just add a cut off switch to an otherwise stock wiring system?

Do you have power to the big stud on the starter relay?

Where does the starter relay get power, IE does it go from the battery to relay to starter, or from battery to starter and a second cable back up to the relay?

Find the fuse link either near the starter relay or bulkhead. See if it has power at both ends, IE at the starter relay and where it enters the bulkhead

IF the wiring is fairly stock, sounds like bad fuse link, bad connection in the bulkhead terminal, or ammeter problems

just to be sure, did you check both sides of the disconect switch?to make sure power is getting to the starter.

Just checked the battery disconnect again. Power is getting to the starter. Cannot get a readout from the starter off of the battery cable though, something doesn't seem right here. Also checked another 'hot' wire coming off of the starter to the electric fan, and once again, no power.

Went back again, and found out the Taylor switch is the culprit. Ordering a new one tonight. Once jumped, all power was normal.

Seems to me you have found the area of the problem. Cables do break internally, especially places like the starter which moves around. They can also corrode internally as well

Time to yank those cables off the starter and get your hands dirty

Thanks 440, the Taylor Cable battery disconnect switch was the culprit. Hot wired both posts together and power all works as it should. Ordered a new one last night from Summit, should be here tomorrow.

Awesome. Glad you found it. How you likin the recam so far?

I have only driven the car once with the .590, but that was all I needed to get me hooked; best investment yet! I am going to take it for another drive today. Have two car shows this weekend to attend. Car runs much better, and has a definite increase in throttle response once we installed the SFI damper and a jaguar clutch with universal clutch fan to clear the radiator. We were running a straight drive mechanical, and I didn't feel that was going to be too safe at 6,500 RPM! Have an MSD two step limiter, a moroso switch box to manage all my accessories (other than a taylor toggle), and electric fuel pump that will be installed this week as well.
