No Heat Or A/C On A 70 Roadrunner

I have a 70 Roadrunner with factory A/C. Have no heat or A/C. Been looking over the A/C section in the shop manual and have pretty much figured out how it all works (pretty involved...LOL) Anyway looks like I have to remove all the heating/A/C components from under the dash to be able to check everything and replace anything that needs to be replaced to get at least the heat to work "normally" (still have to get the compressor working and install some missing A/C lines & hoses). Just wondering how difficult that will be with out pulling the whole dash out (and I know to do that the windshield has to be removed).

Depends what needs replaced, you should be able to do most everything with it under the dash

I’m not sure about a 70 box with A/C but I was able to roll the entire heater box out with the dash still in on a 69. It was tight but it came out.

Yes, the heater box will come out with the dash still in the car ...

It will come put from under the dash but be advised it is big & heavy. Of course all the lines on the firewall side will have to be disconnected. Be careful with the vacuum lines.

What are you wanting to check? Much of it you can check fairly easily without removing much.....

If you are comfortable taking the glass out the dash comes out quite easily. The hardest part is getting the bulkhead connector back into the firewall on reassembly. There is not much room in there.....

Assume thermostat is in and working? Are the htr hoses getting hot? First things first.

There Are also several bolts that protrude through the firewall.
My car has no motor and the dash is out and it was still a pia.

More than several! I struggled getting it lined back up and the half dozen studs back through the firewall with no engine, dash, windshield, doors, console, seats, or carpet in it by myself.
