I checked the fuse box the 3a fuse section for instrument and tail lamp has no power to box or fuse, gauges are working, ammeter, gas and temp, no brake light on dash.i used test light to check all fuse box sections all others are good. Thanks

If I read the wiring diagram correctly it appears that the power feed for the fuse is -
Black from light switch to the dimmer panel switch.
Tan from the panel dimmer switch to one side of the fuse.
Orange from the fuse to the dash connector pin #1.

Are you saying the tail lights don't work either?

The same terminal on the light switch feeds other lights so it's probably OK.
Dimmer switches are always suspect.
So are bulkhead terminals.
Do the turn signals indicators in the dash work? If so that should mean the dash cluster is grounded.

I had same problem on my 68, check power at the back side of the fuse box. Mine had poor connection going into the box. That and the terminal was spread at the fuse, squeezed them together and all good now

no not yet,it can not be to much wrong all the gauges on dash work, but no lights on dash, i am going to replace the dimmer switch on dash, that causes a lot of problems and can kill power to dash. thanks

don't replace it yet. you can test the voltage going in compared to whats coming out. mine was a huge difference. you can take it apart and clean the inside up, mine looked like an old corroded penny inside ! Also check all you gauge bulbs, I know sounds stupid but once I got my voltage squared away I still had no dash lights. Found every bulb black and had to replace them all !

how do i check the voltage what tool i need, i have a probe with light on it. thanks

A DVOM would be better, that way you could read actual voltage. You get one of for cheap. 1st need to make sure you have voltage going into and out of the fuse. Check voltage going into panel dimmer switch and power coming out. I guess I should've asked what car are you working on ? !! I assume it's the 69 in your profile pic ?

problem solved with no dash lights, and no power to the 3a fuse section,i replace the dash dimmer switch with a rebuilt one and i have lights on dash and 3a fuse has power to it. thanks
