Yesterday, I backed my Fury 62 out of my driveway - drove 10 miles, and stopped for gas. When I was to leave the gas station, I accidentially pushed the reverse button, while the park lever was still engaged. I then disabled the park lever, engaged it again for the reversebutton to pop back out, disabled park and tried to reverse, but to my dismay.................NO reverse??! I fear it is a broken band, but havent dropped the pan yet, since I have no expierience in tranny work. It drives perfect in all other gears, but nothing happens, when I push reverse....?

Could it be something else - a common thing, maybe ( I cant be the first in history, to have done this.........!)?

Any kind of help is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Regards

Rolf

I think you need to get under the car and look at the linkage. Or even the R button itself and how its functioning.

cable adjustment....

Sounds like a cable linkage issue. Do you have a factory manual...? It's a pretty easy procedure to readjust the shift cable...

Yes, I have the manual. Is it that sensitive - and so, that it could miss reverse only???

I have a 64 Dodge D200 with push buttons and have had to make the adjustment a couple of times in the past 12 years. Everything worked but reverse.

You'll have to follow the entire procedure to get it right.... shortcuts don't work... LOL. But it is not to diffacult. The only tool you'll need is a 7/16" socket and ratchet.

Apparently, I was not that lucky. I tried to adjust the linkage a couple of times, but without any luck. I eventually removed the pan, and found a 2 inc moon shaped piece of aluminium in the bottom of the pan........my guess would be that it comes from the rear servo, but since this is my first look into a 727, I am not sure.....
Please let me know what you think - and if it is something that can be done, without removing the transmission from the car?
