I have a 64 Polara with a 440. When I bought the car I was told the MSD was bad and the previous owner tried to wire in a stock electronic ignition to see if it would start (flipped, owned for a short time). I wired in a new 6AL but I have no spark. I did msd's paperclip and screwdriver in the coil wire trick and it arced that way, so I figured it must be the pickup coil in the distributor. Changed that out tonight and still nothing, no flicker on the MSD LED. It's a 4120942 43 0 Tach drive distributor. What am I missing lol

Assuming all the wiring for the 6al has been followed, have you metered all the power feeds? Alternator putting out power? Coil bad have you tried a replacement or at least metered the coil for a resistance reading? sounds like signal to the coil from the MSD is ok but I have had a bad 6al just recently replaced it with the summit version for a lot less between that and a bad alt mine is all fixed and fires right up. Make sure you wire the main power for the MSD just like the instructions, do not tap off the alt for power.

Do you need wiring diagrams? are you using the ballast and voltage reg etc?
