Just an FYI to people who are selling stuff. Canadian postal workers are on strike and USPS is not taking packages...

Alert: Effective November 29, 2024, international mail service to Canada is temporarily suspended, due to the strike of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers.

Striking themselves right out of a job up here. Absolute stupidity, especially when the strike vote a few weeks back was 51% for and 49% against...

I quit selling and purchasing anything from Canada directly as it is way too much of a PITA in either direction. Too much paperwork going up there and the cost for down here just makes it worse. Sadly even though we have some good relations with the Canadians,:canada::canada::canada: it is not worth it to me anymore...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Shipping to Canada always seems to be a crap-shoot.....PERIOD!!!!!!

Strike or no strike, just plain sucks....

Shipping to anywhere else in the world doesn't seem to be anywhere near the hassle of just going up north across the border.

For Pete's sake.....we've mailed packages to New Zealand and Australia that made it there sooner than packages sent to Canada.

When taking an order from our "north of the border" customers, I ALWAYS ask if it's possible that they have a state-side shipping address to ship to. Makes everything sooooo much simpler......

I need a postal job where I can show up to work, not get a damn thing done, get paid a pretty darned good wage, and cannot be fired for not performing my work duties!!!:jackoff:

Striking themselves out of a job reminds me of our Auto workers…

Honestly: Being a Canadian is a big reason I don't restore cars anymore. The costs and hassle aren't worth it. I wanted to emigrate to the USA 20 years ago but my wife wouldn't. Been suffering needlessly ever since.

Oh man, I bent over backwards for my X for so many years......the story is long and I'm glad she's gone!

I recently ordered a set of battery caps and sticker from Wescar in Belgium. Hope they don't go through Canada!

I works the other way, too. As a Canadian, I have ordered stuff from U.S.A., and it has travelled around a bit before I got it. I have found it my order goes to the Chicago International sorting centre, it can stay there a week or more.

A lot of packages go through Chicago. It takes a long time to sort through all those packages to see what's worth stealing.

It's the people in the system, not necessarily the system. My father in law worked for the post office, to many years ago to talk about. It was different, It was a career back then, not a short term money solution while you find yourself. In my opinion.

I will say the Canadian Post Office is good when they're working. In country is generally less than a week for parcels across Canada, less for closer shipping. USPS is slower in my experience. We're both big countries, as big as 10 or 20 small countries, sometimes we take that for granted.

That is because it is the major hub for the USPS mail sort for air, train, and trucking carriers. Next is Indianapolis, and I have forgotten the others. Priority Mail travels much faster than Advantage Ground, etc. as the package can bounce all over the US before reaching its final destination. The USPS is now a joke and with every rise in postage costs it goes to fund the Golden Parachutes eventually it promises to its Union workers and executives at every turn. As stated above, it used to be an honorable career but not so anymore as more and more of its delivery personnel are a Taco short of a Combo Plate!!! cr8crshr/Bill

Canadian postal workers are the ones striking
"not the USPS"
but USPS seems to honor their strike thou :blah:

And for anyone wondering the workers didn’t strike, they got locked out. Just a fyi. Kim

There's a 50% correct rate for both sides of the fence
