fyi actually he's a member here and there is a long thread about that wreck and his trouble getting paid for the car.

If it was an R/T it would be a good one to rebuild, I think a good body shop could get her straighten out again (frame machine). It looks like it was nice driver before the accident! Not worth the price they're asking for it for sure!

It will be worth what he can get for it. Definitely worth more then $1K, don't think I would pay his opening bid though, maybe 4-$5K max, if I was looking for this type of project

The seller is not the guy who is a member here. He settled with the insurance and this seller bought it from the scrap co.

Todd even posted a heads up here a few days ago.

Yea, the insurance company paid the owner $22k for it and then this guy bought it from the insurance company. For this car to be put back on the road, it would have to be rebuilt and then pass a state inspection before it can be driven. And you have to have a dealers/rebuilders license to accomplish this. After that, it will still not have a clear title, the title will say Rebuilt on it. In which still kills the price. So unless you are going to get that license and pay the $4,000/year for the insurance you have to carry, the car is only worth parts. Some states might be different, but here in Illinois, this is how it goes. I have been doing this for 20 years.

there are ways to get it titled just plan on 3-5 hundred and up to 6 months.

Parts are all its good for... he did good to get 22k for it thats for sure in today market

I wouldn't pay $8k for it because it's not what I'm looking for,but it doesn't look like it's really that bad.I've seen much worse brought back and turned into a show winner.Far from a parts car in my opinion.Especially since AMD and other companies are making parts that anyone with basic tools, can halfway weld and some mechanical ability can do.If it were a Cuda convert,Challenger convert or 68-70 Charger in the same shape, nobody would say it's just a parts car.

So I am a retard for having this insured for 25k? 383-4 with A/C that has lived it's whole life in the desert.

Who's a retard?... I'd insure it for as much as they will pay you back for it. If you could get more than insure it more for more would be my thought. You never know when some idiot is going to ruin all your hardwork. My experience with the Ins company is they wont insure my stuff for enough total value.

Like WS27 mentioned- I put a 'heads up' in the general discussion section.
I agree that the damage doesn't look all that bad from the pics. The frame, though, has a pretty significant twist. If you look closely you can see the front passenger corner pushed down and the rear driver's quarter panel out of alignment as well as creased. The only body work not affected is the driver's door and the left front quarter panel. The hood and trunk are damaged as well. Interior is all good, though.
The car was valued high as it was all original, unmolested. No previous body work or engine work. Factory undercoating was even still intact.
See my other posting for more information

8K for a totaled salvage title is pure fantasy.

I'm sure it was nice enough to be a 22k car before the wreck, but it's probably 2-3K tops in parts right now IMO.

...and a big SAL-LUTE to the member/original owner that gave the full story, and disassociated himself with the car.

And it WAS a NICE car.

thanks for the correction ws27 didn't see the heads up but remembered the car.

In Georgia, you can retitle a salvage title car as long as the repairs are inspected by the GBI. I am sure other states have similar laws.

Here you don't need an inspection, at least that I know of. I and friends have owned S-titled cars here in CO and had no problem getting lic and insurance for them. CO would never remove the S from a title though. Once an S always an S. Buddy did have a 71RR pulled form a salvage yard that had an S title. Car was not wreck, just parted. Was a GY3 air grabber car with fender tag. He rebuilt the car and it turned out really nice. He sold it to another buddy in MO. MO removed the S from their title. I wounder if it returned to CO if then CO would put the S back on the title.

Had a nice 71 RR clone a few years ago that I built and drove everyday with nothing but the cheapest insurance on it. Some dingbat ran a stopsign in front of me and totalled it. I quickly figured I had about $8K in the car (which obviously does not include my labor) and was willing to settle for that. The insurance company tried comparing it to a 73 Satellite parts car sitting in a field and offered me $1,500. The more I kept finding cars like mine on ebay to prove its value the more I realized I would never be able to replace my car for the $8K I was originally willing to settle for. Getting tired of their crap, I finally sent them an auction of a 71 Hemi RR that had bids up to $150K and told them I would split the difference. They didn't appreciate my humor, but they did finally settle on $13,300 for the car and I bought my car back for $200! The Air Grabber hood and 71 only rear spoiler were worth way more than the $200. It came with a rebuildable title, so I invested about a grand into it, got it inspected and got a rebuilt title, and sold it for $7K. It didn't make up for what we lost on the personal injury side though. The dingbat only had $20K for personal injury which didn't make up for my wife's broken back and my herniated disc. Anyway, the real point of this story was to say that it is a lot easier to prove the value of these cars with the internet than it used to be. It just takes72b DS ft.jpg72g PS ft.jpg a little work and a LOT of patience.

Those pictures remind me of the episode of Fast N Loud where they finished a 67 mustang vert and had $22k into it and someone blew a light and totaled it the day they were suppose to deliver it. I have had something similar. Finished a car for a customer and was driving it back from a car wash, when a van pulled out in front of me and totaled the car. I hit the van hard enough that it spun around and clipped a car at a stop sign. There was literally a broken marker light on that car and she sued me for $30k for a "LOSS OF A NORMAL LIFE". Needless to say, when we went to court she made a statement that she denied medical treatment on the scene and then called her lawyer from the scene. The judge threw it out of court after she said that. Poetic justice.
