SATURDAY TIME TRIAL RUNS:

First time trial run was terrible...11.70....Motor fell on its face at 5200 rpm in both 1st and 2nd gear.

Worked some bugs out:
Tried 3 things at once (due to time constraints and number of available runs)
Raised the fuel pressure
Leaned out the primary jets (back to what they were on the Dyno Pulls)
Pulled the 7000 Chip out of the MSD Box (thinking it may be defective)

I then it went 11.10 at 121.5mph and then 11.07 at 121.6.

SUNDAY ELIMINATIONS (only entered one class due to the problems)

I then dialed in at 11.00 and went 10.998 at 121.7 and broke out.
I had originally posted I went 10.098 but I meant to type in 10.998

It launched HARD and did pull both front wheels about 4" to 5" off the ground.

Still got lots of "tuning" now to do.

1) Tire Pressure
2) Cal Trac Settings
3) Jetting
4) Spark Advance
5) Race Gas
6) Launch RPM.

Going to NHRA Hot Rod ReUnion (Exhibition Class ONLY) this coming weekend (Oct 22,23,24 & 25) should get 4 runs in to try to get it into the solid tens. Exhibtion runs only (like test and tune for me) no competition.

I was fine with the car's performance...didnt instantly go 10.80 but it ran strong and now gots lots of "tuning" to get to the 10.70 to 10.80 range but I believe it will get there.

Thanks for all your support...

Mike,
I'll look you up if I can get there!
The highway 58 West out of Mojave is closed due to that Mud Slides....

You installed that DANA yes?

Nice going Mike. The MPH is up some as you were making more power this time. Even without any more 60 if you pick up to a solid 123 mph you will have solid 10.80's. I know I was running 123 and 124 last year at MIR and ran 10.80's all day but my tires were worn some as my best 60 that day was a 1.53 and my worst a 1.55 but when my tires were new it would hit a 1.50 sixty. You may go even faster with the Cal Tracs when they are dailed in real good as they should sixty better then my SS springs. Do you run any mufflers Mike or open headers as I forgot ? Way to go. Ron

nice effort Mike . mine goes high 10.80's @121/122 , but will also go 121's @11.0's.
I feel your pain on the breakout . I picked up to run 0.07on the brake under a soft 11.03 dial 2 weeks ago in the 1/4 finals , 10.96 grrr . did not see that coming at 1700DA(79.7F) and the 10 gets a automatic DQ in competition
Keep at it hopefully more to come .

Tex

Is that a typo or it went a full second quicker? Had to be 10.98. Not 098. Not at 121mph. Whew. Had me going for a moment there lol

I did not even notice that but at 121 mph I would say its a typo and he meant 10.98. Ron

Ron, I run open headers, no exhaust system at the track. I drop it all of before I go.

Yes, it was a typo.I corrected the original post to read 10.998 NOT 10.098.

I hope it goes better next time,
IIRC seems like it should be quicker, based on the build info in prior posts...

practice makes perfect or paying extra $$$ for chassis-dyno time helps some too,
BUT IMO test & tune days, are great for lots of back to back runs, get the bugs worked out,
fine tuning all the variable, every car likes something different, you'll find it...

good luck & happy Moparing
