I'm looking for an a833 four speed with overdrive and all the shifting linkage, and a bellhousing that fits an LA. If not I'll just fabricate mine for the bigger front bearing retainer.

I'm in the process of doing this on my 63 vali-wag.I had the 4.30 bell opened up to 4.80. Then took my bearing retainer and had it cut down to just under 4.80. ......... I think there is an LA bellhousing that already is 4.80 not sure. I have an overdrive trans for sale that was in my 68 roadrunner when I had a small block in it { very briefly } But it has the 5.12 bearing retainer on it, I,m using the cut down retainer on my wagon. If you call Brewers perfomance in Ohio,Wayne was very informative and helpful...........just my .02 :angel1:

How much do you want for that a833od tranny? Does it have the aluminum case or the cast iron case? Does it have the B/E body mounts or the A body mounts?
I'll probably just take my bellhousing to someone that has a huge lathe and have them round it out to the 5.125" diameter. I have a three speed standard in the car now the conversion should be fairly simple I'm hoping.

I don't think you can open it up to 5.12,you'll have to see if the fork pivot will allow it.On my small block bell I couldn't.That's when I called Brewers performance and pointed me in the right direction. If you have the bell cut to 4.80 you'll still be able to use a later four speed and that's only if your bell has the dual pattern for the three and four speed. And then of course you'd need to have the bearing retainer { nose cone on the trans. }cut down to a tad smaller than 4.80 so it'll go inside.I had my bell and the nose cone {bearing retainer } cut down at a local machinist for around $45.Brewers also offers this service ,but then you have to ship to him and then ship it back.Hope this helps :angel1: ................... oh ,and here's the scoop :headbang:
