OEM Dana 60

They really didn't start useing the Dana 60 in passenger cars until 1966.

"You can find a passenger-type Dana 60 in one of these donor cars if equipped with 426 or 440 engines:
o 1966 Dodge Coronet and Charger, Plymouth Belvedere and Satellite
o 1967-'72 Charger, Super Bee, R/T, GTX and Road Runner
o 1970-'71 'Cuda and Challenger"

I'm looking for an OEM Dana 60 for my 64 Plymouth Savoy.

Factory Dana 60 rearends are fairly expensive these days and might not really be what you want anyway. It might be better to just buy a new S60 from Strange and order it with the correct length and type of brakes that you need. Most people will not notice the difference and it will be all new. DoctorDiff can get you what you need.

If you insist on a factory Dana 60 then you'll have to hit the swap meets and look at ebay or Craigslist. I see them for sale from time to time. People usually want more than $1000 for nice ones. If you do find one then you'll probably need to have the spring perches moved and you might need new wheels with the correct backspacing to fit in your wheel wells. I really wouldn't buy an original Dana 60 and then modify it since that drops the value of the rearend which is why I suggested buying a new S60.

If I'm not mistaken, the Strange version only comes with green bearings, not the oem tapered roller bearings if that is a consideration for you, and also the 2 pinion traklok posi instead of the 4 pinion powrlok

Dr diff will set it up how ever you want it, green or taper bearings. I got mine set up with green bearings because of the wilwood brakes and with a S-trac differential. it’s made to order with whatever you want.

The Trac Lock is an entirely different design than the Power Lok and IMO, they suck for performance use.

When I contacted Strange they told me the S-trac differential is only available with green bearings so I chose to keep my oem housing and use the powr-lok with tapered axle bearings.

As stated above, original ones are hard to come by and are expensive when you find them. If you don't want to buy a new one from Strange then perhaps grab one out of a pickup or truck in a wrecking yard and have it rebuilt for you. The truck ones won't have the pinion snubber but you might not need that for your car.

I was lucky years ago to buy a Dana 60 out of a wrecked B body. It bolted right into my '65 Coronet and has been there every since. Still has the original gears and limited slip in it.

Too bad you're so far....I have a 55" 60 sitting here with nothing to do.

I found one years ago, out of a '70 Charger, and it bolted right into my 1964 Polara. Even the e-brake cables swapped. I had to have a driveshaft made useing the Dana back yoke and the front section with the trunnion joint. That 456 gear really woke that 383 auto up!

I have a S60 rearend from DoctorDiff in my Duster. It is 45 inches wide with 35 spline axles, a Detroit Locker, 4.56 gears, Torino ends and Explorer disc brakes. Super nice setup.
