what kind of oil is everybody running with flat tappet camshafts. i was told i should run some type of oil with high zinc rating. ive just been running 20 40. what do you guys run
I run Valvoline VR 1 50w in my street driven 440. I live in the South and drive the car regularly except for the Winter months. I have researched this topic myself and learned that the oil industries discontinued or reduced the zinc content in their oils for 2 reasons, (1) not necessary in todays overhead cam engines (2) the zinc is known to stop up the federally mandated catalytic converters. I had a couple of friends that changed over to Shell Rotella diesel oil but I read that the federal government was going to begin mandating the use of catalytic converters on diesel engines as well and therefore the zinc would be basically removed from the diesel oil too........
