When full gas gauge reads 1/2 & empty when it should read 1/2. Oil pressure reads 1/2 also, I checksd oil gauge with a mechanical one any ideas what is wrong
It's possible the little silver box on the PC board is not working properly. This is the voltage limiter and controls the gauges you are having trouble with. You can take each sending wire and briefly ground them and at the same time observe rapid gauge movement to max.
I agree with Meep-Meep. My Voltage Limiter was doing the same thing... the oil was showing a very low reading as well as barely indicating the temp...the fuel gauge wasn't working, but that was due to the float. Anyways, I bought a new solid-state voltage limiter online to replace the mechanical one and it cleared it all up.
The solid state limiter is the way to go if you need to replace it. You can either make one using an LM317T adjustable regulator from parts found at Radio Shack or just buy one that plugs in as recommended above.
