I put an Autometer oil gauge on the cowl of my Coronet and now it isn't working. It kind of worked before. The first time I started my car it only showed 20psi but then crept up to 80psi. I started the car later that week and it worked fine but later that day it went back to showing only 20psi. Now it wont work at all. I put another gauge on the line and it worked fine(80psi). I have had the gauge for 3-4 months now but only just got the car going so I can't return it or at least I don't think I can. Anyway, any ideas on this?

I had an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge that recently went bad. It would show 0psi one and a while which isn't too relaxing to see!

It was sort of a cheaper one, replaced it with a Stewart Warner and all is good now.

As far as warrantying it, maybe you can send it to Autometer and have it replaced?

who did you buy it from?
if its from summit or jegs, reorder it and send back the bad one.
theres too much junk out there these days and they are getting top dollar.

I thought about doing that. Just ticks me off that I have to go through this process to get a new one.

Call the autometer tech line they will help you troubleshoot the problem...

are you running a copper line to it. if so, make sure the opening to the compression fitting is opened up. i use a small drill bit or nail for a clean opening. just a thought.on both sides also.
