Getting things together for a main seal/ oil pan replacement. My 67 GTX has a 971 pan on it now, and I'm replacing it with a 402 pan and baffle. Is there a difference in the pick up tube assembly?

Well, I can't say for sure if it will fit, but the 402 is a 4qt pan and the 971 is a 5qt pan. From what I have seen, the 402 pan calls for a P4529564 oil pickup, while the 971 calls for a P5007848 oil pickup. I don't know enough about them to know the difference. I don't know if the 971 gets its extra capacity from having a larger sump, or a deeper one. If it is the same depth, the pickup tubes may interchange, but if it is deeper you may need the P4529564 oil pickup.

I pulled up some pictures, and the P5007848 has the same type curved tube as the P4529564, not straight tube like on the 6pk and hemi pans. Can't tell you if they put the screen in the same locations or have the correct height though. Might have to try your current pickup and see if it fits. Change it if it doesn't.

Brewers Performance sells the 402 pan oil pickup, but they were out of stock this spring when I needed mine. I just checked for you and they are still showing out of stock. I had to search for the P4529564 pickup and order from some other place online. I ordered one and it was too long so I ordered another one from somewhere else thinking the first one was wrong. Still too long. I found out after that they do that on purpose so you can dial them in for your pan depth. We had to cut it off a bit and re-cut the threads with a pipe tap until we got it to the right height.
