running valvoline 20/50 vr1 racing oil w high zinc,engine/ trans at full operating temp,,air temp 75 ,,,,water temp 185-200,180 standard stainless superstat from stant,,idle in gear 20PSI,,,idle neutral 58 psi,,,cruise at 70 mph 68-70 psi are these ranges ok or should I go with 10w-40 lucas or 10 40 amsoil with zzdp zinc???? or thinner?? thanks to all for input Mark in ohio,,,manual oil gauge,, from auto meter,, silver series pro comp oil filled THANKS TO ALL

Accuracy of guage? A fresh rebuild needs 50 weight? After break in, I run Amsoil 10-40 w/high zinc. Lots of opinions here, all over the map. Good luck. My guage usually pegs at start up, then drops some. As long as it stirs, I drive it. Any noise?

all is quiet,,,amsoil 10/40 sounds good opinions/ tests I know are all over the map amsoil has great/very good reviews...deffinetly want zinc already blended into oil at the factory I do not want to add THANKS!!!!!

How many rpms does it drop from idle when you put it in gear. Pressure drop seems somewhat excessive, but not sure I'd worry to much about it as long as you're carrying pressure when it's hot.

Oil pressure sounds good. 10psi per 1000 rpm. Mine idles at about 20psi with .003" rod/main bearing clearance.

Seems a lot of people believe they need 70+ pounds from idle to redline. Some myths die hard...
