Oil pump drive gear question

I am replacing the cam in a small block 318 and don't remember if I need to index the oil pump/distributor drive gear with the cam. Logic says yes due to the distributor but I have forgot how. Been many many years since I have replaced a cam.
Any help would be appreciated.
 
Yes, if it's not where you want it a long slotted screwdriver twisting to have it jump a tooth and a wiggle into the pump drive to get it where you want is what I do. No big deal.

This is exactly why I like this forum so much. A guy has a question, a guy gets an answer, not like some when you get why in the hell are you wasting your time with that or you end up talking about some guys big block and how great it is or something that has nothing to do with the original question.
