Oil Testing

Is there a Cliff Notes version?

The author does summarize each section. Or, you could just read the table of contents then type "Ctrl F" to open a search box and type what the section you want to read. Try just jumping to the ratings list to see which oil has the highest ranking in the test.

One fact he points out is we can't just choose oil with the highest ZDDP content. The part about H-beam vs I-beam rods was interesting, too.

So which is best?

1. 5W30 Pennzoil Ultra, API SM
2. Valvoline Vv854-1 1 Quart Nsl Synthetic 10w-30
3. Lucas Oil 10610-1 Lucas Racing Only High Performance Motor Oil
4. Brad Penn 0w30

Or this combo which seems to have the highest wear protection rate ever seen, as he stated was so high it was off his chart.

5W30 Pennzoil Ultra, API “SN”, full synthetic WITH PROLONG ADDED rated over 136,658 psi, or up 48% high than without the prolong. Think I'm going to try this once

That is so much reading it's hard to figure out just which one is the all around #1 oil for my car! lol one thing is for sure he does his research! He never does say which is ranked #1 he just gives you all his study data and leaves you to be the judge.

On another note I found his write up on I beam rods vs H beam rods fascinating, he compares the I beam and it's use in all types of construction and explains why it's better than an H beam design. He asks the question why would all construction use I beam and not H beam in buildings and the simple answer is H beam in a building can not be built off of after they are installed and create fire gap's that would take more money to defend with sprinklers than a typical I beam would so it's really a combo of strength and money is why architects use I beams in buildings and not H beams lmao I found that funny because he uses that one argument to justify why H beam rods are not desirable on top of quoting Lunati and some of their parts list.

I am a noob to engine building but I have never seen a bent H beam rod, vs have seen a lot of bent I beam rods not saying it hasn't happened because you can google pics of them, I know I listened to the hype about H beams with all the stroker kits out there and thats what I have, and honestly do not believe my motor could generate enough power to bend one so I'm not worried. But I do know I will be listening to the racers who build motors all day ling next time I build one.
