Those places are getting few and far between. Even some of the ones I knew of in Nevada (very solid ****) are gone.

There's alot of great steel that can be saved in that yard. Good grouping of Trans Ams also.

Man I'm old, I remember walking over roadrunners to get to darts for parts! Lined up by the dozen. I had a friend that bought anything Mopar back in the 70's. The laughs could be heard miles away. He had right at a hundred cars and two warehouses full of parts and engines. What do you think a rusted out roadrunner convertible, 4 speed, Hemi, black on black on black Vin tag is worth today. He got the last laugh.

ya I found that same site on our craigslisting in Cleveland Ohio and had posted for people out that way ,I remember when I was a lot younger I would take maps and do grid search in Ohio for old yards and photograph the yards and old cars talk to the the guys get prices buy and sell stuff some of the yards had been closed for years but the old timers where great and like to talk ,a lot of the yards scraped there stuff because of the prices ,found a place when I came to the Cleveland Engine plant to work there where a few old places that had been closed since the late sixties this old guy at mone time was a mechanic for an old Ford dealer and he would save all kinds of old ford motors at one time I guess he had been friends with a lot of the old racers , I will had to dig through my old **** to if I can find some of the photos

My dad was an aircraft mechanic, but also was the neighborhood shade tree auto mechanic . He would help out family or friends needing repairs. People didn't have money for new parts, so we would go to the junkyards and find good replacement parts for their cars. I would wander around while my dad removed the part he needed to do the repair. I was like 7 or 8 and a motor head already. My dad used to say I could leave you here for three or four hours and you would be fine wouldn't you. Yeah I would. Haven't been in a yard for many years, like to wander around this place.

I remember 1 in Nv. on Hwy 50 out near Fallon that was a gold mine. Some of the cars were covered in blowing sand 3 feet deep. Had to bring a shovel. Went by one day and there was a crusher, done about 2 weeks after. Still one in Fernley by the speedway last time I went through about 4 yrs ago, long picked over and nothing I needed. Got one here that still has a few older cars out by the airport. Typical old crusty owners but good prices. Got a front clip for a 73 Nova, super clean 4 door 6cyl Grandma car. $350. Got to pick in the summer when the water is low. Otherwise got to have chest waders. LOL. Not many Mopars though.

Is this the same yard that's near Nellis off the main drag between the base and the I-state? I was yardin around that area and found a un-raped 440 just lyin on the ground. The crew would've loved me for that, draggin it on the jet! This was about 6-8 years ago.

If it was out close to the speedway forgetaboutit. I heard Ron had a little issue with the EPA. Actually quite a few in that coridoor have vanished in the last 10 years or so

69a100, Yeah pretty close to that area.
BUGSHCLUNK At one time there were many yards in the track area. Almost all gone now. Around 25 years ago there was a yard out there that the owners name was 20. My neighbor bought a Merc Pickup truck from the early 50's from him. It had a automatic transmission, the only one I've ever seen. I asked him about his nic name "20". He said it was because he got
"20 to life" and got out of the joint right at 20 so the name stuck.

IIRC it was called Speedway Wrecking and had the remnants of the old track in the back. To bad it is gone.

When I lived in Vegas in the 80s-90s there were many yards where the Strip and LVMS stand now. All gone when they broke ground. Used to race at the old Strip = Gambler Nats. Good times.
