When I bought my 1968 GTX it was painted black exterior & black interior. It is an original EE1 Midnight Blue Metallic exterior & S6B Light Blue Interior car per the fender tag. I have convinced myself that it should go back to blue on the outside but I am tempted to keep the interior black. I think it looks better than the blue interior.
There is nothing particularly special about this car. I plan on building a resto-mod driver.
What would you do?

Also, someone installed 1970 hi-back buckets. I hope to trade those out and get some 1968 originals.

Here is a picture, ignore the skinny kids legs.

For what it's worth...
It's strictly up-to-you! YOUR choice of interior, & exterior color's, seats, etc. Remember, if you change-back to the original 1968 bucket seats, they didn't have O.E.M. headrests... The 1969 seats, had adjustable (vertically), headrests, that could be removed...
As far as the interior goes...Black goes with EVERY color!
Just my $0.02 - on YOUR car!

P.S. Your '68 GTX - looks fantastic (in this pic!).

The blue interior is beautiful with that combination. However, to get it done right will cost big $$ in comparison to the black.

The black will hold up better in the long run if you plan on driving the car a lot....

With the dark blue I would keep the black interior. If you have Unlimited funds go for the blue, $$$$. Nothing special about a 68 GTX, I think not.

I kinda like the blue, you don't see the blue interior as much. But I'd probably keep the black especially if it's in good shape. It can be changed later if you decide to. I really like the 68s.

Go blue, black is so standard. An interior with color really pops

Thanks, but the car and the owner haven't fared so well after 25 years. I think we could both use some restoration. I have to admit, even in the condition it is in it looks bad-***.

Black black black! I get sick of seeing black I like the blue because it's different! I'm changing my 69' bee from black to the original blue. And it is expensive to do a complete change.

"What would you do?" I'd spend my money on something useful, some performance modification for example, rather than changing a color for no reason.

It's your money! If you go back to the original blue paint - I would choose blue interior to highlight it. But be prepared - finding some of the new stuff you're going to need in your changeover is goi g to be difficult and expensive. I'd think long and hard before you make both changes. Nothing special about a 68 GTX- I beg to differ - only because that's what I have..

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but I read in November Motor Trend magazine that the Chrysler Pacifica is the ONLY vehicle manufactured today with the availability of a blue interior. The letters to the editor the following month were giving kudos to Chrysler for the blue interior option. Drab gray, tan, and black are today's only interior options on cars.

My vote: Blue for your GTX.

Black is the rule of thumb, but if you can get everything Blue that is required, and you can afford it all....go for Blue.

Since I have to replace the carpet / upholstery / and restore it anyway I was just trying to decide which way to go. If it was in decent shape as-is I wouldn't change it just to change it.

To me black goes with any color. Mix it up. I think blue interior would look good with black exterior. I my self, I like to be different.
