Hello all,
I'm looking for a factory original drive shaft for my '70 GTX. It is a 440 automatic car with an 8-3/4 rear in it. The correct drive shaft is 51.5" long from u joint center to u joint center using 7290 u joints which have 1.125" diameter caps. It needs to be straight, no dings, no rust pits. My plan is to give it an Evaporust bath and end up with an assembly line looking piece. I know this is a lot to ask for but hopefully someone has one that will work. It will probably need to come from one of the dry states.
Thank you for looking.

IMHO, you are far better off having a new one made, rather than rely on a 50 year old piece. I exploded a 9 year old OEM shaft behind my 425 HP motor. Not pleasant.

I blew up the original one in this car back in the mid '80's, no, definitely not pleasant. Rob Brombeck is the only one I know of that makes correct drive shafts for these cars, they are perfect, but it'll cost about $2,000. His work is outstanding though. I'm just looking for an alternative.
