I'm in the process of replacing everything in the engine bay to complete the system. Everything in the OE ac/heater box has been attended to a few years ago. I intend to use the original suction and discharge metal fittings. The suction side to the evaporator fitting tube is 3/4"od. That indicates, to me, that the hose was #12 size. The sanden compressor I've installed has a #10 fitting on the suction post. My question is: Is it better, in anyway, to reduce the hose diameter closer to the evaporator or closer to the compressor?

Thanks r/t for the response, I read all your posts on the a/c forum and knew that you would know how they mysteriously reduced down to #10. Do you think that a low pressure port could be installed into this tubing up nearer the evaporator?

The #10 fitting screws directly into the weld nut... The #8 goes at the discharge of the condenser... Wish I'd aimed the camera slightly more to the firewall...

Actually here's my other car.. If you look close you can see that suction tube swedges down to 5/8 just before the weld nut... I use to cut the hose crimp & silver solder to the 5/8 portion of the tube... But it's cleaner & easier to just open up the nut & solder to the 3/4" portion of the tube...

Hey R/T, Thanks for taking the time and the photos. I knew you would have an easier way of doing this.
