I was coming up the return road after 1st rd on Saturday of the the NSS bash at National Trails 2 weeks ago and all of sudden heard LOUD ticking. I figured I broke a rocker arm, drove back to my trailer watching oil PSI, steady 40+lbs hot. I pulled the valve covers and no broken rocker arms, ok, I checked all the valve lash again all ok. ??? Put everything back together and started motor up, a little noisey but nothing like before??? I started back up for 2nd rd and it was quiet?? I lost that round on a double breakout, car ran fastest pass of the weekend 10.44 on the brakes, so all seemed good. Waiting for it to cool down Saturday night before I pulled it in the trailer I looked everything and finally saw screw head from one of the choke blades missing, AHHH. I started taking it apart this week and found the screw head lodged in #3 cylinder, makes sense as the missing screw head was on the passenger side carb of the crossram. I removed the screw head and smoothed out the sharp edges on the piston and head. Th cylinder walls were smooth and no signs of it getting into valve head or seat. Filled intake and exhaust ports with brake cleaner no leaks. I was very lucky
