The padmv site explaines it all, but in a nutshell, your 69 qualifled for antique plates or vintage registration. For Antique, you only need to register the car once, no state inspection and the state supplies your antique plates. Vintage plates is you supply an old license plate from 1969 and the state will accept your plate ahnd again, no inspection. You own the plate for life and need written permission from the state to sell it with the car provided it stays in pa.

Also with antique plates they will want four pictures of your car and it must be stock. And I mean stock.

I had a front plate that said 1968 ( the paper kind the dealer used) and the DMV rejected it. WTF. Also, make sure the windows are rolled up as well.

just two months ago i applied for antique plates and was prepared to give the 4 pics and the clerk said dmv dont require that anymore? they did want the rub thru of the vin which i did not have. gotta bring the car in cause cant get to the plate good enough. worth it not having to get it inspected every year.

I am in PA and have a classic tag for my Road runner.

Both Classic and Antique tags are lifetime registration.
Classic tags still need yearly inspection, but no emissions
Antique tags do not need yearly inspection or emissions.

In both cases, the car should only be driven for club functions, parades, car shows, etc., or for pleasure use, which is define as no more than once per week.

I drove my car whenever the heck I felt like it and my son now drives it every day. I'm sure he could get nailed at some point, but so far after 20 years of driving the classic tag - no problems.

I run classic plates never did like the look or color of the antique one for a Muscle car. I may go with vintage the next time if i can find an original plate in good condition
