Saw an article in MM on a poly build i believe, they painted the oil pan with a real smooth slick paint I guess to create a smoother surface for the oil? but does it have an overall relevance and function?

Can't see any benefit in it.....now doing the block and heads does help the flow of return oil. The inside of an oil pan (and baffle if it has any) is pretty slick as it is.

I agree. Besides, where can it go ? It's already at the lowest point once it's in the pan.
