My 72 RR dash brake warning light came on and I'm fairly certain it's related to the parking brake sensor because it happened after I did some underdash work. Is the sensor located on the front of the parking brake toward the top? A small silver prong sticking out of brake? Mine appears to be broken, but shouldn't there be a wire for it? Also there are two orange wires with bullet male-female connector under the dash near the parking brake that would come loose and the light would go on. That's fixed but I can't find those wires anywhere on my wiring diagrams. Any help with basics of parking brake switch would be great. Any help ID'ing those orange wires would, if nothing else, quell my curiosity . Thank you.

It should look something like this. There usually a black bullet nose wire that plugs into the rear of the switch.

As mentioned, the parking brake pin switch should have a black (may have a white trace) wire with a male bullet connector. If the light is on, that connector is grounded somewhere, wire is not very long, should be near the brake mechanism. The orange male bullets are the dash illumination light leads for any accessory switches mounted to the lower dash. There is an orange three-way female plug in the dash harness around that same area where the male plugs fit.

Thanks Bee71 and 72RRGTX!! That is a huge help. I think I may have been plugging the parking brake switch into the orange 3-way plug. The plug had no wires coming out of it and they were right next to each other. When I put them together, brake light went out. But no wonder it wouldn't stay snug. I'm an idiot. Either way, switch is definitely broken. Thank you for photos!

Steves muscle car parts on ebay has those switches at the best price you'll find. I git one from him.

BECAREFULL... it can be the prop valve warning switch WARNING you about a brake pressure failure. Both are tied to same bulb

Thanks Nacho. I checked the prop valve first just to make sure. It seems all good. Plus, the parking brake switch is definitely broken. If I replace that and light stays on, then I'll be more concerned.

All good. Plugged in the male connector and it's working. Unbelievable. Thank you everyone. This site is the best and especially thanks to 72RRGTX, Bee71 and Nacho. You guys are terrific.
