Parnelli Jones won't be down for breakfast

I grew up respecting that man, from my first model, to my first car. Another good one gone.... R.I.P.

RIP Mr Jones.
This is a photo he signed for me a couple of days before the 68 TransAm at Warbonnet. Theres a story - naturally - but if y'all think Mr MoparEd from Tennessee's stories are long, your eyes would form a permanent glaze with mine... :)

R.I.P. Parnell Jones. A great driver in the era when NASCAR racing was still great to watch. Now it is just a high speed traffic jam.

He’s the best thing about the ‘69-‘70 Boss 302 Mustang.

Ford guy but great. Most of these older drivers could squish these newer guys with their thumb too. No P.S., manhandling 4000lb cars imperfectly setup around a track. Off Road, circle jerk, roadcourses, open wheel whatever.

RIP!
Somewhere in mom's junk is a picture of me with him when I was about 10 years old. INDY car racing was very big in our family during my youth, when our Uncle Lujie (Lesovsky) was still alive...God bless all those old boys. An era that will never be repeated.

I use to frequent Panelli Jones Good Year in Antioch Ca.
& where his actual office was in
San Leandro Ca. (or was it Hayward ?) Parnelli Jones Good Year
I bought my slicks from him, always had me come in & talk with him
about what I needed, memorabilia all over his walls, very cool
I got a few slicks & front runner comp'd too, just had to run his stickers
he was a great guy

RIP Parnelli, you are/were a real ICON
you will be missed

Baja 1000, 2 wins in a row IIRC in big Oly
he attended & raced/participated in 50 in a row,
(I don't remember how many he won, but he always finished)

dude had some massive cajónes, great racer & great man, great father

he & his youngest daughter won overall class IIRC
at Baja too a couple (5 ?) years ago IIRC
in his 50th consecutive attempt, in the same rig, he won in,
new shocks & freshened engine
took it out of a museum or his collection, let the daughter & sons team drive,
he navigated as part of it (last part IIRC)
he wasn't walking to well back then, but he made it thru
