Hey all

I have a 69 coronet with a 318 2 bbl

I have had a leak coming from the oil filter adapter
I removed it and replaced it since the nut was on backwards
It is still leaking....
Any tricks to getting this on correctly and sealed?

Thx
Mark

Replace the gasket, and make sure it is the large ROUND one only, not the one with the with the inner peace symbol, or the small inner gasket. They will not allow the adapter to clamp the larger outer ring properly, and it will leak.

Thanks for replies people....

I purchased the canton racing billet....it came today....

I peeled off my old adapter plate, and the canton product fits the cavity on the block perfectly, however, the threaded bolt will not fit through the hole in the center of the billet....

anyone else have this problem?

thanks,

Mark

Hey all,

I had the local machine shop drill out the center hole just a bit...

installed and ran the car.....looks like I fixed the leak...

good product....very happy...

thanks,

Mark

I didn't have that problem with mine, but I'm glad that a easy fix cured your oil leak. I went with the Canton Racing plate because my OE plate didn't seal and started spraying oil during the cam break in period. Luckily my cam didn't suffer any damage. I found out that my stock plate had a hard to see hairline crack.

markbob: You'll be doing others a favor if you let Canton Racing know what you had to do to get the adapter installed. I'm sure they will want to know of a potential problem. Glad you got it fixed.

Thx for replies everyone

I spoke to the canton racing folks prior to installing the billet
They were very helpful and are aware

Happy driving!
