This is Richard's Superbird and it is spending the weekend on Maryland's Eastern Shore. It will be on display at the Ridgely Pharmacy and Ice Cream Parlor car Show Sunday. Richard Petty will also be in attendance, signing autographs for a couple hours. Here is the link to the show website, if you are in the Mid- Atlantic area, come on out, gonna be a great weekend....

I got that shifter setup in my Satellite!! What a cool guy and a great feeling about this! You know what they say, "Mimicking is the highest form of flattery." I didn't realize Mr. Petty idolized me so much?! That is so rockin!!:beavisnbutthead::70s_rule:

Where's the underhood shot? He probably ran the same setup there too!! Ha Ha!

Those guys were true men of steel running around at 200+ mph in that beast hardly protected.

Gas pedal.....don't need no stinkin' gas pedal!!! :toothy9: FULL Throttle all the way.

Richard Petty was the Chuck Norris of Circuit Racing!! :headbang:

Great car. It was really an automatic, 62polara! I see another superbird in the background of one of those pics.

I'd love to roll in that ride

No Pete, didn't get a chance to sit in this one. I did post a video of the car on start up when it was ready to get loaded. The car sat in the old Museum for 12 years on an angle. The caretaker of the car told me it wasn't planned on staying that long, and they never drained fluids or anything. Upon removal from it's stand, fluids were drained and cylinders treated w/ Marvel MO, left to sit for a few days and turned over by hand, fresh fluids and battery, and it roared back to life. If you missed the vid, here is the link.....

Am I going blind or is there a gas pedal missing ?

The pedal is visible in the first pic. It is cut down so it is easily held at it's normal position, on the floor!

That car was painted up to resemble the car character that Richard voiced over for the Cars movie, there's a Ford wagon that his wife Linda voiced, and the Hudson Hornet that Paul Newman voiced also in the Petty Museum in Level Cross, NC. FYI that car is not an actual race Superbird, it was created as one from a '70 Roadrunner for display purposes. For years it wore the Goodys logo.

Yeah, just as said, not a Petty car but a car made to mimic a Disney cartoon movie.
