I knew I should've snapped a pic before I left the shop.
Umm, whatever bolts up to the end of the tailshaft
I remember some saying it's for a balancing weight of some sort, but there are a couple of bolt holes on the body adjacent to the mounting holes at the end of the tail shaft which looks like it may have had a brace at some point
A weight bolts there if you so choose too. I belive it was meant to dampen vibrations.
I can take pictures of it tonight if anyone is interested in seeing what it looks like.
edit: oh re-read the oroginal post... I will take pictures and post em tonight for you 9SE, and I'll see if there is a part number
Ok here are snaps of the damper that bolts to the tailshaft... ok most dont have it bolted there from my experience. I just happen to have taken this off a 727 that came from a 76 Chrysler Newport, it may or may not be original to that but that what I got it off of.
As for the holes in your floor in the pictures, my guess is for bucket seats, the stiffening plates are welded to the floor on the inside not the outside as seems logical lol
the number on it is either 9120 or 4120 oh and there is a big number 2 in the casting.... these number mean nothing to my searches for it
I dont have a pic of it mouted on the tail shaft and the 727 I have in the charger does not have the holes drilled and tapped in the tail housing, nor does the spare 904 I have... I think the 904 in my dart has the holes drilled and tapped though, will check later today. I'm going to ask over on CBods
