Pictures of Hatteras Light

I am staying in Avon for a week at the beach and today we took a ride to Hatteras to see the light restoration. They are presently doing most work inside and will move to the outside soon. It gets blasted to remove the old paint in and out. Then repainted and the stairs repaired. It will also get a new Fresnel lense with modern lighting.
The light was moved to its present location in 2000 as I recall.

For a lot of lighthouse !!! If you have ever been there to see it, it's quite an impressive structure. I was there probably 25 years ago when it was at it's original location. Can't imagine what it took to move it without damaging it.

The move is an incredible story. They lifted the whole structure with hydraulics
