Pie crust cheaters vs Drag Radials

Looking to purchase tires for my 64 Plymouth Max Wedge clone.Love the look of the pie crusts But wondered how much drive ability I'm going to give up.Car would be 99% street driven. Anyone have any real world experience with these.Looking at the ones from Towel city.

I've run the Firestone cheaters all the time. Not user friendly in a rain storm. Pricey though, as I'm sure you've noticed.

I used the Hurst versions on my '64 wagon a few years back. They rode great-they were capped on radials. I just wouldn't drive them in the rain.

I can't speak for the drive-ability of the pie crusts but they're no good for racing. I love the looks of them as well and ran a set on our altered. No amount of tire heat could get them to stick unless I was at the best NHRA prepped tracks and ran right after the fast cars. The smoke that comes from them is also fairly nasty compared to race slick rubber. Just my $.02

I had the coker/firestone cheater slicks on my 65 dodge coronet hemi and had no problems on the street. I believe they were the 30x 10x 15's on a 8.5 torque thrust D wheel.

I ran Castler cheaters on my 55 Nomad in High School and on the way home from Atco Raceway after getting rained out one Sunday I swerved to miss a dog in the rain and wrapped it around a telephone pole. I had it towed home and it was stoled two nights later....

My dad ran Kasler cheater slicks on his 67 GTX on the street back in 68. When I was growing up he used to tell me stories about racing on the street and smoking everyone in town. They were spinning and he was winning. He always had 3:90's or 4:10's in his cars also. Man, I wished I would have grown up in those days!

I just bought some American Racer (McCreary) 235 70 DOT tires(they do need tubes). Super sticky-super cheap...under $100 each.

Not having much luck in finding a close up of the side of car.
Been using these tires going on 4 seasons ( 2 sets ), never thought they were bad hooking up.
