Has anyone ever tried to find a source of engine ID pie tins that were plain and unpainted? The 360 that is going into one of my cars is going to be painted Chrysler red with matching red/black valve covers and so forth. The only 360 4 barrel stuff I can get for it are orange decals or an orange pie tin that reads 360 4 bbl. I'd like to get a plain one and have a powder coat artiste paint it red and add the lettering with a border. Just a thought.

i seen the normal ones on ebay for 29 bucks..maby get one and take decals off or sand blast it

same dilemma with the 318 Four Barrel orange pie tin...

I have the same dilemma except with a 318.

An alternative idea may be to buy the "318/360 FOUR BARREL" orange pie tin, masking off the lettering and then painting it red.

It sure would be nice if someone produced these pie tins in red...

Just get a plain aftermarket one from Summit and have a decal place make you up something custom in vinyl. They can be embedded right into your coating (either a color or clear). Here's a Magnum control arm with a custom Harley tank decal my customer found on eBay on top of Illusion Lite Blue ...

If you find a cool air cleaner lid with some details / profile height differences, your red and black color scheme can be carried into it as well.

Good ideas folks. I didn't know Summit had plain pie tins. Right now I am stuck with having to have the one I bought from Herbs ($45 plus $15 shipping) blasted. But orange just won't work. These are all great ideas. It has to match the red and black scheme for the valve covers and air cleaner. As soon as I get this figured out, I will give you (CudaChick) a call. I am finally getting closer to getting this project started big time.

I'll be around whenever you're ready! If you want to look at color swatches or have any mock up questions just let me know -- it's what I'm here for. :D

Cudachick68: Thanks. I've seen your stuff and its really good. You'll like the color combo I'm going with for the 360 going into my 68 Barracuda. I've started the front suspension (total rebuild) and don' know what I'm doing but I'm learning. What I plan to do is by the black wrinkle valve covers and have you redo them as well as the air cleaner in a red/black combo. It will be nice. Again, thanks for the help.

You're very welcome! If you can purchase them "as cast" rather than with any finish at all, it might save you a few bucks. Regardless of whether they're bare, wrinkle painted or polished, the parts have to be blasted down to bare metal to do what I do anyway.

Red and black is a very startling combination and quite the attention-getter. It'll look great!!! I don't have anything off the top of my head to show you on valve covers but this might help you envision your color scheme a bit ...
