All factory Dana cars and all other rearends had snubbers too. It was more of a bump stop than anything.
It doesn't matter how you get there as long as the snubber is about 1/2" - 0" from the floor and it doesn't bend under stress.
I also took the snubber off my old Belvedere and added a leaf to both springs. If I had the snubber adjusted up high it worked great on hard launches but I got tired of it banging the floor on every bump. If I lowered it to stop the noise it didn't work like I wanted.Wouldn't be hard to make one with the screw....but over the years, I quit using a snubber and worked my springs over instead. I have even used a leaf/link suspension setup. There's several things you can do to the rear suspension that doesn't break the bank but it takes some work and experimentation to see what works for your car.
