anyone with negative experience using solid (copper) core spark plug wires. I know that
they'll mess up your car radio audio, but I'm not concerned, in the least, with that. I also, know that the new cdi ignitions can't tollerate them, but I'm not running one of those.
I just have the mopar electronic ignition system, which I'm hoping won't be adversely
affected by the RFI created by solid-core plug wires. I not only want the stronger spark
carried by solid-core wire, but, even more, I want the durability and longevity that they have.
I'm thinking of purchasing Granatelli solid-cores, or possibly constructing my own.

Make sure you have a copper color inside contact
distributor cap or corrosion will build up on
the contacts.

Solid core wires are fine unless you want to listen to the radio OR have a MSD ignition system. Most of the spark plug wires I've had fail melted/split on the outside & the core was just fine. I don't "think" solid core would last longer if that's what you're going for.

Cool, your thinking old school.Back in the day we would buy a spool of Packard 440 solid core wire,Raji clips(if I spelled it right) and make our own all the time. The cars were so loud with shorty glass packs bolted to the headers who could listen to the radio anyway.

This guy i know ran a set and had all the wires zip tied together, couldn't figure out his misfire.

I ran Accel 8.8mm solid core wires with a MSD 6Al box with no problems. I read about the RFI concerns, but experienced none myself.

thanks guys, It's good to hear that solid-core wires will not be destructive. Now, what if I took the
concept of "least (spark) resistance" all the way through the spark plugs, and used standard,
non-resistor spark plugs? Would my ignition system be o.k. with that, also? Again, since radio audio
quality isn't any concern to me, it just seems so counter-productive, to engine combustion,
to have any resistance impeding the electricity, that makes the spark, that burns the air/fuel mixture.

I also NEVER used resistor plugs in the motor, and still, no RFI... I used Autolite non-resistor plugs, gapped larger due to the coil.

SUPER! That's really good news. I'm looking forward to putting energetic youth back into the 335hp 383!
Much thanks to everyone for their input.
