I have a black GTX with black police wheels and the stainless dog dish caps with the holes. Was all ready to buy some trim rings but now i'm not really sure. It could look stupid and be a pricey disappointment.
The other idea is to paint the wheels a colour and forget the rings. Maybe light grey or pale yellow or cream or something. Thoughts anyone?

I think the yellow or cream looks to stark personally, trim rings look wrong to me but hey im sure tons of people would disagree, I think the dog dishes always look great on these cars..best wishes whichever way you go! CD

Not sure i personally would go that way, If you put dog dishes on them i would keep them black with no trim rings.

GTX were the prem delux muscle car, I would go with magnium 500 myself, but don't go painting them some odd ball color to be different. leave that for the 18 year old driving the honda's.

i have the police wheels on my 71...i have the center caps w/ holes as well, but i added the center caps from my rallye rims and left the trim rings off.
if your car is black..i would go black on rims no trim rings..and chrome lugs.

Thanks all. I will take this advice and chew on it for a few days. Going to MOPARFEST on the weekend and need to decide if I should look for rings or not bother. And iraquivet you are so right about painting wheels the wrong colour. It can be real bad for sure.

I am going to paint mine body color and just run the caps..no rings. I don't like the rings

i think anything earlier than 71 look good w/ body colored wheels...that being said, a black car w/ black wheels looks so sinister

That's exactly what I thought I would like to do. Grey with caps and rings.

Is cast iron an actual colour from some manufacturer? I like it.

Our cars could be cousins! I do like the sinister look. I think it needs a touch of something shiny.

hmmmm...............something shiny..............you mean like a spotlight?

Or I could put the Cragars on her.

440beep What size tires and wheels are on your bee? They look realy good as black steelies. I am trying to figure out which way to go with a 68 satellite. My son is telling me 17s would look better and give me more performance but I thinkI would prefer the 15s. It originally had 14's but I upgraded to discs and now 15s would be the smallest it could go. I followed your link to ebay. Another great Idea. I had no idea where to look outside my local tire stores. Thanks in advance for any help

Here's the wheel/tire sizes:

15x7 - 225/70/15
15x8 - 275/60/15 (the car looks better with the street tires on the rear than with the MT drag radials)

It sucks that there aren't more "sticky" tires in the 15" size compared to the 17" size. I'm running MT tires right now and I like them, but I guess if I want sticky I can just swap to the drag radials. I change my wheels/tire combo like women change shoes.

You can see my preference--the only difference I opted for was to have the caps chrome plated.
