OK, after just posting in this thread: http://www.dodgecoronet.com/forum/showthread.php?16767-vin-help-please!

It has prompted me run this poll, provided I can figure out how to add a poll to this post.

If not, then please just respond to this thread with weather you have found you S.O.# on the rear cross member of your car.

If you don't know where to look just click on the link above and you will find a picture of where it is typically found in a post by another member.

NOTE: I am running this poll on another Mopar site I fequent. If you do too feel free to post in either or both for this poll.

This is new to me, I'll check my `66 later today so I can participate in your poll.

Well I happened to have my radiator out right now. I cleaned and searched the support bar, looked all around it with no luck. Not going to take off my rear bumper, sorry.

I am not asking for the radiator core support S.O.# as ALL I have see have it there. That does not mean that a car that would have suffered front end damage and had the core support replace in which case the numbers would NOT be there.

You don't have to take the rear bumper off, you can shine a flashlight up between the bumper and rear cross member and see it if it is there. You may have to scrub some dirt off to find it.

Well you haven't "SEEN" my car. It's the original radiator support, doesn't have a number. Original rear end, doesn't have a number behind the bumper.

I have a number back there.....is it suppose to match the number on the jamb plate?

My 66 HEMI Bel has the number in the rear but I don't know about my green car or the 66 HEMI Charger. I can check them out and post the results.

BS=Build Sheet but SO means.....?

Yes, my 67 R/T has the SONUM number in the rear and it matches the fender tag.

BS=Build Sheet but SO means.....?

SO means sales order #

1968 and prior the fender tag and broadcast sheet used the SO number. 1969-up the factory began calling the sales order number a vehicle order number which became known as the VON.

Here is a picture of a 1968 sales order form. This is what the dealership would fill out to place an order with the factory. The sales order number on this form is the first number created for the ordered car.

After the corporate office recieved this order they would determine which assembly plant would produce the car. The closest assembly plant that built the particular car ordered to the dealership would receive the order per a computer IBM card that already had the SO, (or VON 69-up) SPD, V.I.N. and options on it. The assembly plant then made the fender tag and the V.I.N. tag at the appropriate time during assembly.

Broadcast sheets were printed based on the info in the computer per the info on the IBM card and the standard features and assembly items for the particular model. There were several BS printers throughout the assembly plants.
