I noticed both the intake gasket and the oilpan gasket on our 1966 318 polyhead are leaking .
The intake manifold is an aftermarket for a 4 barrel .
Would this make the gasket any differant ?
Is there a preferred manufacturer or vendor ?

If it had aftermarket cylinder heads it could but, with stock heads it would use a stock style gasket.

There's aftermarket heads for polys?

The only aftermarket intake was a Weiand and they use stock gaskets. If you’re using the metal intake gasket, try the thicker fiber gasket. I closed off the heat passage through the manifold with metal plates and had to use the thicker gasket.

Thanks for the responses . Are the gaskets differant than those of the later 318 heads ?
318A Poly heads are different than the later 318LA wedge heads so the gaskets are different. Here are both the metal and fiber gaskets. I believe Felpro makes both but can't remember where my fiber ones came from. Also, throw away the foam end seals and use a generous bead of RTV for the front and rear seals. The foam squeeze down poorly and sometimes causes a gap between and block and manifold especially in the corners.

Thank you for the help on the top end . The oil pan gasket is the same for either type of heads ?

There are all kinds of discussions regarding the differences between the 318 A and 318 LA engine blocks. I needed to replace my pan and found different pans available depending on the vehicle. Some parts are interchangeable - timing chain cover, water pump - but I'm not sure about pan gasket. I would order a gasket using the year and engine size to be sure.
