Got a '66 belvedere and I'm trying to see if i can swap a different differential with posi traction without too much modification. what models and years came out with posi traction that will swap in. thanx
Actually, fixing a cone type isn't very hard if you have a lathe or know someone who does but if someone kept ragging on it once it stopped working right, then it's possible that it's junk through and through....In the world of MoPar it,s called a sure grip....Their are two types...Cone and clutch...Clutch is rebuildable and the cone is not without alot of work...Put a spool with 4.10,s in my car...It,s still streetable. And costs less than a sure grip...Look to pay about 300 to 350 bucks for a good used one...As for what cars?Almost all the muscle cars that had sure grip as an option or offered standard such as gTx..

I put in the spool early sept...It will grab a little on the corners...I have a land cruiser with a detroit in rear that I have been driving on the street too for many years...It,s one of those things you get used too...When to give it the gas and when not to give it the gas...I was,nt sure about the spool at first...Now I think i,ll build up another gear set with another spool...Just got to be careful with the gas pedal on slick roads!!!
