I have read many post about powder coating and how great many people believe it is. This concerns me with many projects that are using powder coated parts. I have 20 years in the field and know when the coating fails it deteriorates faster than most coatings. When I see powder coated in an advertisement for a item that will not be kept indoors I am not impressed. for example I have a ARE Bull Bumper on the front of my 99 jeep wrangler. this $ 800 dollar bumper is only a few years old & looks twenty yrs. old and it has never seen off road use.

I no this all sounds negative but I just wanted others to be aware. I have coated many projects with powder coating since I could do it at work for free and as long as it is indoors & hidden from UV its great. even the highest end so called exterior coating didnt last more than year outdoors.

never thought about the uv....I think there are quality problems like in LEDS...

like I said. I am not trying to be a downer on powder coating but I have been applying it for 20 yrs. now and was the senior Quality Control tech
for a powder coating mfg. and know I would use a wet coating on suspension parts and such.
