Hey guys,
I just got my car back from the shop where they installed a new front disc brake kit and they told me they swapped the vacuum hose that goes to my brake power booster from the intake to the back of the carb and they plugged off the intake with a plug. They claimed that they thought the engine runs smoother with the vacuum connected to the carb. I called master power brakes and they said you can connect it either way.

The engine is a 360ci from a '78 truck dodge truck and the carb is a mechanical choke Edelbrock 1405 600cfm.

Does anyone out there have an opinion on which location to connect this vacuum line to? To me, it seems like when it was connected to the intake it fired up a lot crisper and quicker. Now when I try to start the car it takes 2 or 3 cranks and idles rough for the first minute.

Thanks for your input!

Hello, I'm jumping on an old thread of yours. Did you determine if you had better vacuum from your intake or the back of your carb? I'm trying to tune up a 383 Sweptline with a small 4B carb that has the vacuum line running from the back of the carb to the power brake booster. The truck idles rough and I don't think I'm building enough vacuum due to the cam, the size of which is unknown to me . . . Unfortunately, I left my vacuum gauge in Kansas, so I don't have any readings. However I do have a canister on hand to boost the vacuum. Thanks for any advice!

I have always run from the carb, mainly due to the last few intakes I have had did not have ports on them for vacuum
